Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, VC, Ajayi Crowther University (ACU)
Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) has announced plans to establish an Institute of Governance in honour of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I. The initiative was revealed during a meeting between ACU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole, and the monarch on November 12, 2025.
Prof. Oduwole, accompanied by senior university officials, said the institute would draw inspiration from a similar centre she established to honour the Akarigbo of Remo, aiming to promote research, leadership training, and public policy studies. She also invited the Alaafin to ACU’s 17th Convocation Ceremony and pledged that qualified indigenes of Oyo would be considered for employment at the University.
Oba Owoade commended Prof. Oduwole’s leadership, noting her achievements since taking office, and prayed for the continued growth of ACU.
The planned institute is expected to strengthen collaboration between traditional leadership and academic institutions, providing a platform for governance studies, ethical leadership, and capacity building in Nigeria.
