Dr Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, a respected industrialist and philanthropist, has donated a ₦2 billion trauma centre to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu. The state-of-the-art facility, named after him, was officially opened by Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on April 6, 2025, to mark Dr Adegunwa’s 80th birthday.
The 50-bed centre is fully equipped with modern surgical suites, an intensive care unit, resuscitation bays, and advanced medical technology to handle emergency cases and reduce preventable deaths in Ogun State. Dr Adegunwa said he donated because he wants to give back to society. He encouraged other Nigerians to help build the nation by doing similar kind and helpful things. Vice President Shettima praised the donation, saying it was a good example of how private individuals can support public health. Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, along with university leaders, also thanked Dr Adegunwa for his strong support of healthcare and education.
