The General Manager of UNILORIN 89.3 FM, Mr Ibrahim Akintola Idris (Alooma), has called on members of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ilorin, to anchor their work on truth, ethics, and professional integrity while contributing to the culture of peace on campus.Addressing new inductees at the UCJ ceremony held on the penultimate Saturday (November 15, 2025), at the Faculty of Management Sciences Lecture Theatre, Alooma underscored the strategic value of ethical journalism in today’s media landscape. He urged student journalists to commit to factual reporting, fairness, and balance, stressing that their platforms should drive unity rather than conflict.He noted that the University of Ilorin’s long-standing reputation for stability and academic excellence places a responsibility on UCJ members to avoid sensationalism, plagiarism, and bias, and instead embody professionalism in all their outputs.The seasoned broadcaster also outlined the broad opportunities available to students at UNILORIN FM, including hands-on exposure to programme presentation, newscasting, production, marketing, and news reporting. He added that students who undergo structured training at the station will receive certification upon completion of their academic programmes.
