Some candidates named in a lawsuit against the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) over alleged Post-UTME irregularities have denied authorising any legal action on their behalf.
Three of the five listed plaintiffs stated that they were shocked to find their names in court filings and only discovered their inclusion when the documents were made public online. They claimed their efforts to have their names removed have so far been ignored, stalling their admission processes.
The law firm, F.K. Nnadi & Co., had filed the suit on behalf of the affected candidates, accusing UNILAG and OAU of awarding unjustifiably low scores and withholding results.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was also listed as a defendant, leading to the freezing of the candidates’ admission profiles by court order.
Reacting, counsel Ken Nnadi said the case followed due legal process and that no one was “maliciously or arbitrarily included.” However, the candidates insist they never gave consent, describing the development as damaging to their admission chances.
