Prof Kayode Oyesiku, delivered the CILT Nigeria investiture lecture
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria has called for ongoing evaluation of its leadership and stronger collaboration with government, academia, and industry to drive sectoral growth.
Delivering the investiture lecture titled “The Leadership Expectations,” Professor Kayode Oyesiku emphasised that leadership failures in logistics and transport have national consequences. He urged the new administration to prioritise integrity, accountability, membership expansion, and institutional reforms, highlighting membership growth, effective partnerships, and training as key performance indicators.
The investiture ceremony also featured Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, who reflected on Nigeria’s evolving transport landscape and urged the Institute to uphold the Federal Road Safety Corps’ founding ethos.
Outgoing President Mrs Mfon Usoro, FCILT, presented her tenure achievements, including membership expansion, compliance resolution, revenue growth from N7.8 million to N55 million, and enhanced digitisation and visibility within CILT International.
Newly inaugurated President Dr Boboye Oyeyemi unveiled an ambitious reform agenda, including “Project 2027,” to secure formal recognition of CILT Nigeria as the national regulatory body for logistics and transport.
His plan also includes a national mentorship scheme, a CILT Innovation and Research Hub, a revitalised Digital Academy, and an annual Transport and Logistics Outlook Report.
Oyeyemi stressed that CILT Nigeria must lead transformation in the sector rather than remain a spectator.
