Prof. Emeritus Peter Okebukola, a former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), is set to unveil the African Scholarly Referencing Style (ASRS), Africa’s first-owned referencing style.

Addressing newsmen, Okebukola, stated that the ASRS will fill a “longstanding gap in global academic practice.”

He added, “ASRS offers Africa an unprecedented opportunity to assert its scholarly identity and intellectual sovereignty.”

In his remarks on the ASRS, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, the Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), said, “The proposal by Professor Peter Okebukola, who is AAU’s Ambassador for West Africa, is for the development of an African-origin referencing system.”
