The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAHPT), Plateau, has been reported to have offered a postgraduate course that is not approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). By standards, the NUC never approves colleges or polytechnics to run postgraduate programmes, even if affiliated with universities.
The college is said to be colluding with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) to run the academic programme and award fake certificates. While investigations show that ATBU plans to award certificates to the postgraduates, Zailani Bappa, its spokesperson, has revealed otherwise. The university has no intention of awarding any certificates outside the normal process, as approved by the university Senate. Anything other than that, the university has no intention to do that.
