FUNAAB Governing Council Honours Immediate Past DVC Academic And Former Council Member For Outstanding Service
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has honoured two senior academics for what it described as their outstanding service to the institution. The recognition was announced at the University’s 114th Statutory Council Meeting on 3 December.
Those celebrated were Professor Olukayode Akinyemi, the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and now Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, and Professor Biodun Badmus, a former Council member who currently chairs FUNAAB’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.
Presiding over the ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, said the awards reflected the University’s gratitude for years of steady leadership. He described both men as scholars of integrity whose contributions have shaped FUNAAB’s development.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatunde Kehinde said the honourees had played key roles in strengthening academic and administrative structures. He noted Prof Badmus’s “prudent and strategic” management of the University’s CSR initiatives, and praised Prof Akinyemi’s leadership during his tenure as DVC.
Council members recalled their commitment to collaboration and stability, describing them as “assets” to the university community.
Both recipients expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged continued support to the institution. The event ended with the presentation of gifts symbolising the University’s thanks for their years of service.
