Prof. Olaniyi Babayemi, VC, FUNATO and the university management met with Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), Prof. Olaniyi Babayemi, led the university management to meet the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, to request support for the fledgling institution. The delegation included key commissioners, state board chairmen, and special advisers.
Babayemi thanked the state for providing land and processing the C of O free of charge. He highlighted the university’s immediate needs, including buses, official vehicles, a central administrative (Senate) building, lecture theatres, and agricultural machinery, stressing that these resources are essential for establishing FUNATO as a functional agricultural and technology university.
Deputy Governor Lawal described the establishment of FUNATO as the fulfilment of a 45-year aspiration of Oke Ogun people. He encouraged the university to unite local communities, noting that sustained state government support would be vital for long-term success.
He assured that the university’s requests would be escalated to the governor and urged management to avoid politicising its growth.
