Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has hosted the 13th edition of the Sr. Prof Mary Gloria Njoku Annual Youth Peace Conference 2025.
The event, themed “Education for Peace: Youth Action in a Changing World, Building a Just and Inclusive Society,” featured lectures, awards, and scholarship presentations to promote peace and inclusivity among young people.
In recognition of Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof Christian Anieke’s commitment to education and peace, the West African Broadcast Academy (WABMA) announced 23 annual scholarships for indigent students in Enugu State to cover WAEC registration fees for the next five years.
Two university staff, Dr Peace Ike and Mrs Purity Okoh, received Peace Ambassador Awards for fostering harmony within the campus community.
Speakers, including Chief Vin-Martins Ilo, Barr. Nnenna Anozie and Barr. Amaobi Amaku emphasised the roles of discipline, gender inclusion, and sports diplomacy in promoting peace.
The conference also inaugurated new Peace Clubs in schools, bringing the total to 20, and featured spoken word performances, a peace quiz, and a spelling bee to inspire youth participation in peacebuilding.
