Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has reiterated its commitment to academic excellence at a workshop on global university rankings facilitated by the Times Higher Education (THE), a significant ranking body.
Mr Victor Okeugo, THE’s Regional Manager (Sub-Saharan Africa), encouraged academics to focus more on meaningful research that deepens knowledge and improves the university’s reputation.
He stated that they should pay attention to the research that attracts grants, partnerships, and improves ranking results.
The regional manager disclosed, “You should be innovative and progressive in creating programmes. This will help attract collaboration from other institutions.”
Prof. Sergius Udeh, the deputy vice chancellor (Administration), who spoke on behalf of the university management, implored heads of directorates and staff to embark on projects that will enhance the university’s ranking profile and partnerships.
