The President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Kartina Tahir Thomson, was recently the guest of the University of Lagos Management. This visit formed part of the IFoA President’s engagements with frontline stakeholders in the actuarial profession in Nigeria.
Receiving Ms. Kartina Thomson at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaiye pointed out that “UNILAG remains a trailblazer as it is the first university in Nigeria to offer academic programmes in Actuarial Science and Insurance”.
According to Prof. Falaiye, “UNILAG boasts of the finest set of alumni in Actuarial Science and Insurance who are high fliers in the industry globally”. He assured the university of its readiness to leverage the rich network to foster collaborations that promote the growth and development of the discipline.
In her remarks, the IFoA President applauded the UNILAG Management for “the sense of devotion and keen commitment to Actuarial Science”. She also appreciated the University for the calibre of its faculty, as shown in the quality of engagement with the institute, a development that she said makes collaboration easier.
