Jigawa, FUTB Partner to Boost Tech Education

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has announced a strong partnership with the Federal University of Technology, Babura (FUTB), aimed at promoting technical and vocational education in the state.

Speaking during a visit by FUTB officials, Governor Namadi described the university as a key partner in his government’s plan to improve skills-based learning. He said Jigawa has begun building houses near the campus and promised more support, including access roads and official vehicles. Namadi also revealed that the state is upgrading its College of Vocational and Technical Education into a whole institution with a ₦20 billion investment in equipment and infrastructure.

He added that three Centres of Excellence have already been established, with plans for five more to train students in practical skills before they move on to higher institutions, such as FUTB.

FUTB Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bala Sidi Aliyu, thanked the governor for his continued support and praised the ₦25 billion already invested in education.
