Kaduna State University hosted the 3rd National Conference on Arabic Language
Kaduna State University has hosted the 3rd National Conference on Arabic Language with the theme “Arabic Language in the 21st Century: A Promising Future.” The event, held at Lecture Theatre 1 of the Faculty of Arts, drew scholars, students, traditional leaders and other guests from within and outside Nigeria.
The conference opened with the National Anthem and prayers led by Prof Kabir Abdulhamid Adam. In his welcome address, the Head of the Department of Arabic, Prof Ahmad Rabih Abdulrahman, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to expanding Arabic scholarship.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof Alhaji Isah Usman, commended participants and noted the value of Arabic studies to national development.
He also conveyed the University’s appreciation to the Dan Galadiman Wazirin Zazzau, Alhaji Shitu Ibrahim Dikko, who delivered remarks on behalf of the Emir of Zazzau.
The keynote address, presented by Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Imam, examined digital challenges in Arabic usage and highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence in teaching, preserving and expanding the language—a lead paper by Prof. Attahir M. Dawood traced the evolution of Arabic studies in Nigeria and emphasised reforms to strengthen academic programs.
The conference ended with a vote of thanks from Prof Sulaiman Uthman Sulaiman.
