The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) recently rolled out the red carpet to celebrate 59 staff members who retired between 2022 and 2025. According to the institution, the ceremony was organised to appreciate their dedication and sacrifices to the school.
The colourful send-off ceremony honoured both academic and non-academic staff, with the university describing them as pillars who contributed significantly to the growth of LASUSTECH and its former identity, LASPOTECH.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Abiodun Denloye, the event was a show of gratitude to those who had served faithfully. The Vice-Chancellor commended the retirees for their service. He further admonished them not to view retirement as the end of their active duty, but rather as a new chapter where they can give back through mentorship and community service.
Prof. Odusanya also reminded the gathering that the story of LASUSTECH cannot be told without recognising the role of the retirees in keeping the institution strong, especially during periods of change.
The celebration underlined the lasting impact of the honourees and their role in shaping academic excellence in Lagos State.
