Levi Edu Tech has trained 140 teachers nationwide on basic cybersecurity practices in education through its Cybersmart Educators Initiative 1.0, investing over N45 million in the one-year programme.
The initiative, which culminated in a grand finale at the University of Lagos, was designed to promote the safety of technology and digital ethics among students.
Logistics and Media Manager, Johnson Sehinde, stated that each participant received training worth about N300,000, while the top three performers received cash prizes. Esther Ekanem of Valencia Junior Academy, Ibadan, emerged overall best and won N1 million, followed by Oluwaseun Oluwasanya of Deeper Life High School, Mowe (N500,000), and David Ipaye of Mabest Academy, Akure (N300,000).
Head of Operations, Naomi Adesola-Zion, said the project aimed to ensure students use Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly, stressing that “if students get it right, society will get it right.”
Keynote speaker Prof. Boniface Alese of FUTA called for more vigorous enforcement of cybersecurity policies, noting that “awareness must translate to compliance for schools and individuals.”
The event also featured the launch of the Cybersmart Club to sustain digital safety education in schools.
