Madonna University, Elele, Rivers State, will graduate 1,800 students at its 23rd convocation, including 120 First Class honorees. Honorary degrees will also be conferred during the ceremony scheduled for Friday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Casmir Anyanwu highlighted the university’s uninterrupted academic calendar spanning 26 years, noting its commitment to moral, human resource, and educational excellence. “We have had an untruncated academic calendar for 26 years. Continuity reflects growth,” he said.
Anyanwu also announced Madonna University’s international profile as a member of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, the full accreditation of its engineering programme, and 100% pass rates in the Registered Nursing Professional Examinations and the Law.
Infrastructural developments include a 60,000-capacity convocation arena, an 8,000-capacity multipurpose hall, a CBT hall with 200 computers, and postgraduate accommodation facilities.
However, the Vice-Chancellor expressed concern over the Monday sit-at-home order in the South-East imposed by the proscribed IPOB, noting that it disrupts access to campuses and attendance for both staff and students.
He assured that management is working to mitigate its impact while urging graduands to uphold the university’s high moral standards.
