Prominent Nigerians conferred with honorary fellowships by the Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE)
The Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE) has conferred honorary fellowships on six distinguished Nigerians, including JAMB Registrar Prof Is-haq Oloyede, legal luminary Chief Afe Babalola, and Senate Deputy President Senator (Dr) Barau Jibrin. Others honoured were Mallam Adamu Adamu, Dr. (Mrs) Angela Ajala, and Dr Mohamed Kyari Dikwa.
The conferment, held on November 6, 2025, at the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja, marked the Academy’s 40th anniversary and the 39th Annual General Meeting. It also inducted 38 new members and elevated six to fellowship status, under the theme: “The Contribution of Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE) to Nigeria Education Development.”
Oloyede was recognised for his transformative leadership at the University of Ilorin (2007–2012) and JAMB (2016 to date), as well as his contributions as Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and past President of the Association of African Universities.
He holds multiple fellowships, including FNIM, FSPSP and FNAL, and has received national honours such as OFR (2014), NPOM (2019), and CON (2022).
Speaking at the event, NAE President Prof. Kabiru Isyaku called for a state of emergency in Nigeria’s education sector, emphasising funding, teacher professionalisation, and tertiary institution growth.
A lecture titled “The Contributions of Nigerian Academy of Education to Nigeria’s Education Development” was delivered by Emeritus Prof Pius Augustine Ike.
