Dignitaries at the first Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, co-organised by REA and NASENI
Nigeria highlighted its renewable energy ambitions at the first Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025 in Abuja, co-organised by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
Vice President Kashim Shettima opened the two-day event at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, describing it as “an invitation to establish Nigeria as a hub for renewable energy in Africa.” He noted that the country’s energy transition could attract more than $410 billion in investment by 2060.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, said the forum signalled Nigeria’s readiness to lead Africa’s clean energy transformation. He highlighted the government’s commitment to translating policies into action under President Bola Tinubu’s Nigeria First Policy, stressing that future renewable technologies—from solar panels to battery systems—will carry the label “Made in Nigeria.”
NASENI showcased a range of locally developed renewable products, including solar home systems, streetlights, solar panels, power stoves, portable solar units, and the newly NEC-endorsed solar irrigation system. The Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, addressed the forum virtually, while his Special Adviser on Renewable Energy, Suyud Abdullahi Muhammed, guided participants through the exhibition.
The event attracted investors, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders, generating interest in collaborations and local production opportunities, reinforcing Nigeria’s push to expand domestic renewable energy capacity and industrialise the sector.
