NCC Trains Corps Members on Data Use

NCC teach corps members how to manage their data and know their rights as telecom users

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has taken its awareness campaign to NYSC camps, teaching corps members how to manage their data and know their rights as telecom users.

The programme, held in Keffi (Nasarawa) and Paiko (Niger), comes as many Nigerians complain about fast data depletion. NCC reports show internet subscriptions grew from 105 million in 2018 to 142 million by January 2025, leading to more demand and rising concerns.

Speaking for NCC boss Dr. Aminu Maida, the Director of Consumer Affairs, Mrs. Freda Ruth Bruce-Bennett, said digital literacy is critical today. She explained that data often runs out quickly because of auto app updates, background activities, streaming, and hotspot use. NCC said the campaign will help young Nigerians guard against unfair practices and make better use of digital services.
