NIALS, UNILORIN Law Plan Strategic Partnership

Prof. Abduquadri Ibrahim Abikan, DG of the National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS)


The National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) will partner with the University of Ilorin’s Faculty of Law and other institutions to strengthen legal education, expand research funding, and commercialise academic outputs, according to its Director-General, Prof. Abduquadri Ibrahim Abikan.


Speaking on the “Countdown to Unilorin @ 50” radio programme on November 25, Prof. Abikan highlighted his 24-year relationship with the University, which he described as instrumental to his academic advancement.


He credited UNILORIN for supporting his PhD pursuit of a PhD abroad, noting that the experience shaped his professional trajectory.
Prof. Abikan outlined NIALS’ plan to deploy a national digital repository to improve access to legal research. He also commended the UNILORIN Law Faculty Alumni for their contributions and underscored the need for unity and patriotism in driving national progress.

He expressed confidence that UNILORIN’s new Research Centre would elevate the institution’s standing and accelerate its push toward top-tier rankings.


Prof. Abikan congratulated the University on its achievements and reaffirmed its status as one of Nigeria’s most reputable academic institutions.
