Graduates of Nile University of Nigeria were urged to turn their knowledge into solutions for national challenges, as the institution held its 13th convocation for postgraduate students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dilli Dogo highlighted the university’s focus on innovation and enterprise, describing how students are gaining hands-on experience in laboratories, incubation hubs, and industry partnerships. “When fully operational, Nigerians will begin to see Made-in-Nile University products on the streets,” he said, referencing a mini-factory that transforms plastic waste into usable goods.
The ceremony showcased a diverse cohort of students from all 36 states and the FCT. Many had spent months in practical projects, building prototypes and launching ventures even before graduation, reflecting a new approach that blends academic knowledge with real-world skills.
Dogo praised the French Embassy for donating a fabrication laboratory that has already trained personnel from 14 Nigerian universities, and acknowledged parents and academic staff for supporting the students’ journey.
Graduates were challenged to use their training to create jobs, solve societal problems, and shape industries. Pro-Chancellor John Vermaaten urged them to carry the university’s values into their communities, emphasising resilience, adaptability, and innovation as keys to the future.
