The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Rivers State has launched a school sensitisation programme aimed at teaching young people important civic values and social responsibilities.
This outreach took place on May 14 and May 19 in schools located in Ahoada East and Omuma Local Government Areas.
During the visits, the NOA team focused on key national themes, including the National Identity Project, the National Anthem and Symbols, and the National Value Charter.
They also discussed critical issues, including security awareness, personal and environmental hygiene, the dangers of sexual and drug abuse, the consequences of examination malpractice, and the risks associated with “get-rich-quick” schemes.
Other topics included respect for authority and elders, hazards of fuel scooping, and the importance of immunisation.
The schools visited included Rivers State University, Ahoada Campus, G-Give International Technical School, and Umudu State School.
NOA officials engaged both students and school staff, encouraging them to contribute positively to national development through good character and civic responsibility.
At State School Umudu, a session was also held with teachers to state the importance of work ethics, dedication, and the role of educators in nation-building.
Key people involved in the programme included Dr Boma Omubo-Pepple from Rivers State University, Mr Godsgive Nwankwo of G-Give International Technical School, and Mr Stephen Nwankwo from State School Umudu.
