Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has announced that 6,454 students will graduate at its 49th convocation, with 217 earning First Class honours.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire disclosed this during a press briefing ahead of the ceremony. He confirmed that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, will deliver the convocation lecture.
According to Bamire, 5,084 students are graduating with first degrees. Of these, 2,077 finished with Second Class Upper, 2,173 with Second Class Lower, and 33 with Pass degrees. Another 1,074 students will earn postgraduate degrees, while 54 will receive diplomas.
He added that the convocation will also feature academic awards and recognition of distinguished personalities, including the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. All events will be held at the university’s Amphitheatre and Oduduwa Hall.
