The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ogun State has commenced an indefinite strike, shutting down all primary and secondary schools due to unpaid benefits. In a statement released by the body, the leadership directed its members to withdraw their services and stay at home, starting from midnight on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
This followed their claim of exhausting “all avenues for resolving industrial issues, particularly concerning Contributory Pension and other challenges.” According to them, the government has failed to implement the current minimum wage, pay their eight-year leave allowance, and stop their promotion and contributory pension scheme; hence, the action taken.
