Ohanaeze Praises NBA Leaders for ₦1bn Transparency

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has commended Emeka Obegolu, SAN, and Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President Afam Osigwe, SAN, for demonstrating exceptional accountability at the 2025 NBA Annual Conference in Enugu.
Obegolu, who chaired the event’s Planning Committee, returned a surplus of over ₦1 billion to the NBA, a gesture described by the apex Igbo socio-cultural group as “historic and exemplary.”


Senator Azuta Mbata, Ohanaeze President General, hailed the act as a model of transparency and integrity, emphasising that it reaffirms public confidence in ethical leadership.
The group also lauded Osigwe for his “visionary judgment” in entrusting Obegolu with coordinating the high-profile conference, noting that his leadership ensured a seamless, widely praised event.


Ohanaeze highlighted Obegolu’s distinguished track record, including roles as former NBA General Secretary and Pan African Lawyers Union Secretary, asserting that his stewardship sets a benchmark for professional ethics in Nigeria.


The organisation called on legal practitioners and professionals nationwide to emulate the duo’s conduct, stressing that principled leadership strengthens institutions and benefits society.
