Opay Digital Services, a popular fintech company, has awarded ₦126 million to 420 students across 20 Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The scholarship serves as the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, focusing on using education to equip the next generation.
Elizabeth Wang, Opay’s Executive Director and Chief Commercial Officer, while speaking at the company’s 10-year ₦1.2 billion CSR Scholarship Scheme, said, “In the past year, we have disbursed 126 million, supported 420 students, and partnered with 20 universities.
“We are proud to have delivered on our first-year commitment, and we will continue to sustain and expand this initiative over the next nine years and beyond.”
She highlighted that Opay has met its first-year target by signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the relevant tertiary institutions and providing each student with ₦300,000 to support their education.
