Over 80 Nigerian Army captains will sit for the 2025 written promotion examination in Benin, Edo State, from May 12 to May 16.
The Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST) is conducting the examination as part of the Army’s structured promotion process.
At the opening session on Sunday, Maj. Gen. Kevin Aligbe, commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), praised the candidates for reaching this critical point in their careers.
He reassured the candidates that success was within reach with proper preparation, without resorting to malpractice.
Aligbe urged the officers to maintain discipline and professionalism throughout the process, warning that any misconduct would lead to disqualification and possible further disciplinary action.
He also disclosed that awards, including cash prizes, would be presented to the top three performers, stating the examination’s role in promoting merit-based progression.
The examination is crucial for promotion to major, with only three attempts allowed according to Army policy.
Maj. Gen. Adebayo Adegbite, commandant of NASST, welcomed the candidates and reminded them to stay vigilant regarding security, mainly due to the current situation in Benin. He encouraged officers to move in pairs and be mindful of their surroundings.
The examination follows a month-long preparatory course, and Adegbite expressed confidence that the candidates were well-prepared to perform excellently.
