Rear Admiral Ahmed Named New NDC Commandant


Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, a Chevening Scholar and one of the Nigerian Navy’s most decorated officers, has been appointed the 22nd Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Nigeria’s apex military training institution.
He succeeds Rear Admiral James Ohimai Okosun at the college, which is responsible for training senior officers of the Armed Forces and participants from allied nations in strategic leadership and national security management.


Before this role, Ahmed served as the 7th Commandant of the Naval War College, Deputy Chief of Defence Space Administration, and Director of Recruitment, Resettlement, and Reserve at the Naval Headquarters.


He also held key command and instructional positions, including Director of Plans at the Naval Headquarters, Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Training Command, and Commander of Naval Base PATHFINDER.


Ahmed has also served as a Directing Staff at the National Defence College, Air Force War College, and Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, where he trained officers in strategy and defence policy.
