College of Education Gindiri, Plateau State
The College of Education, Gindiri, has issued a formal rejoinder to address “false claims” by Stephen Davou regarding staff recruitment in Plateau State tertiary institutions and the role of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Contrary to Davou’s assertion that “dolaye” were merely replaced without interviews, the College clarified that previous recruitment exercises under past administrations were unadvertised and often favoured friends and relatives over qualified candidates.
The statement, signed by Abdullahi Abdullahi, College Registrar, claimed that some recruits were still serving as corps members in violation of employment regulations. In contrast, others paid substantial bribes to secure positions.
It noted that Governor Mutfwang’s administration, in contrast, ensured transparency and compliance, adding that all positions were advertised nationally for six weeks, followed by a rigorous interview process lasting over two weeks.
“The selections were merit-based, and even previously relieved staff were allowed to reapply. Those qualified were re-employed; others who declined to participate cannot fault the process,” the statement read in part.
The College emphasised that the responsibility for recruitment lies with the institutions’ Governing Councils, not the governor.
“Allegations that the administration appointed dolaye are misleading and politically motivated.”
The statement urges Davou to acknowledge the factual record and uphold honesty, stressing that the reforms aim to correct past abuses and strengthen the integrity of Plateau State’s tertiary institutions.
