The House of Representatives Committee on University Education has asked all government levels and private stakeholders in the country to fund specialised universities in the country, including the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurum, Delta
Rep. Abubakar Fulata, the committee chairman, made the call in a statement, adding that the university’s infrastructure needs improvement. “I want to urge the government and relevant stakeholders to properly fund the school and other specialised universities across the country,” he said.
Fulata stressed that the university should be among the best in Nigeria, given the significant role the oil and gas industry plays in the economy. He urged the management of universities in the zone to partner with oil companies, in line with the Petroleum Industry Act, to secure support.
