Salisu Shehu, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), has called for the empowerment of teachers in the country. He stressed that this step is necessary, as it will help train the up-and-coming generation of innovators and job creators.
Speaking at the 2025 School-to-Work Educational Transition for Long-Term Youth Fulfilment (SET4LYFF), Shehu, represented by Olakunle Akinsola, NERDC Director, said, “When we empower teachers, we empower an entire generation. There is an urgency for us educators to empower our teachers.”
He further mentioned that entrepreneurship should not be limited to business creation but also to making students resilient, problem-solvers, and curious.
Olaolu Akogun, SET4LYF Country Director, added that the Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) plans to improve the partnership among key stakeholders and facilitate sustainable transformation in Nigeria’s education ecosystem.
