Soil Values, CDA Train Farmers on Soil Management

Soil Values and the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) of Bayero University have organised a field day to train farmers in Kano and Jigawa States.

The training on integrated soil fertility management showed the farmers how to restore degraded soils through practical sessions.

The centre set up four demonstration plots on a farm to help the farmers see the impact of different soil management in Takai, a dry area in Kano State.

In addition, traditional practices, organic and inorganic fertilisers, and the soil fertility management approach were showcased on the farm.

Dr Bassam Abdulrahman, who represented Prof. Sanusi Gaya, Mohammed, the CDA Director of Research, described the field day as a part of the Soil Values Project.

Abdulrahman emphasised that the initiative’s goal is to improve land use in Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi States through beneficiary training.
