The University of Port Harcourt Achieves Full Accreditation for 21 Programmes in NUC Evaluation

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 21 academic programmes at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) following a nationwide assessment exercise.

UNIPORT Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, describing the approval as a significant milestone for the institution and its students.

He explained that of the 22 academic programmes presented to the NUC for evaluation, 21 received full accreditation, while one was granted interim accreditation. He added that this outcome reflected a 100% success rate in UNIPORT’s October/November 2024 accreditation exercise, conducted by the NUC.

Georgewill, who did not mention the newly accredited courses, credited the achievement to the university’s management’s dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to delivering quality education.

He lauded members of staff and other stakeholders for their commitment towards realising the institution’s academic objectives.

“This 100 percent success is a testament to the tireless efforts of every member of the UNIPORT community.

“The positive outcome results from strategic planning, teamwork, and a collective vision for academic excellence,” he added.

The vice chancellor further noted that the achievement reaffirmed the university’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions for advanced learning and research.
