President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a global leader in science, technology, and environmental education under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by Senator Binta Garba, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin Ekiti, Tinubu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Ajakaiye.
Garba said the administration is implementing key reforms in the education sector to make Nigeria one of the top 20 nations globally in science and technology.
She reassured the council of its resolve to align university goals with national priorities, commending FUTES Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gbenga Aribisala for fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.
Oba Ajakaiye pledged the community’s full support to ensure a conducive learning environment, praising the federal government for establishing the university.
Aribisala disclosed that FUTES will commence full academic activities by December after staff recruitment, noting that over 1,300 students have already been admitted. He said recruitment for teaching and non-teaching staff is ongoing through an online portal.
