Mrs Bola Olajomi-Otubu, UI alumna and CEO of Beige Spaces Limited, has urged the Class of 2025 to see the University of Ibadan as a launchpad for success, not just a place of learning.
Speaking at the convocation, she reflected on her journey from psychology graduate to entrepreneur, leading a firm with nearly 60 employees, attributing her resilience to lessons learned at UI.
Olajomi-Otubu stressed the importance of faith, discipline, and values, warning graduates against chasing fleeting trends or being misled by social media. “Choose the hard and the right over the easy and quick. Real success is slow-cooked like smoky jollof rice,” she advised.
Highlighting UI’s legacy of producing giants like Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe, she encouraged graduates to build character, nurture relationships, and embrace community.
She urged them to transform challenges into opportunities, stepping confidently into the world as “builders of the future.”
Concluding, Olajomi-Otubu said the foundations laid at UI, combined with faith and integrity, would enable the Class of 2025 to rise from “pepper to purpose” and leave a lasting impact.
