The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, has received a festschrift donated by retired educationist, Professor Elizabeth Abama, to the university’s library.

The book, titled Education and Women Empowerment for National Development, contains contributions from more than 50 academics and reflects Professor Abama’s three decades of teaching and research at the University of Jos. She said the publication was inspired by the many colleagues across Nigeria who continued to seek her guidance in educational management after her retirement.

Speaking during the presentation on Wednesday, 3 December, Professor Abama said the collection draws on her experiences from Assistant Lecturer to Professor. She added that the work is intended as a resource for scholars, trainee teachers, educational administrators, and those interested in the role of education in women’s empowerment.

She noted that the project was delayed by personal bereavements. However, she expressed gratitude for its completion, describing the donation as her way of giving back to the institution that shaped her career.

The editor-in-chief, Professor Ozoji, praised the university for its recent achievements and said the book reflects the author’s commitment to academic growth.

The Vice-Chancellor described the donation as thoughtful and enriching, saying it will benefit students, researchers and the wider academic community.
