Representatives of the UNILAG Air Quality Monitoring Research Group (AQmrg) visits LASEPA
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has contributed to environmental research and innovation by hosting a real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) platform on its website.
The innovation is the first in Nigeria’s university system, developed by the UNILAG Air Quality Monitoring Research Group (AQMRG).
The research group aims to raise public awareness about air pollution and its impact on health, and advocate for a cleaner urban environment. Through the research, the group provided updated data on air quality levels throughout the university campus and other areas in Lagos State.
The group measured and collated the concentration of air pollutants, including nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and particulate matter.
