The University of Abuja has appointed Mrs Roseline Adakayi as the new Acting Registrar of the institution. Her appointment was approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso.
According to a letter signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, Mrs Adakayi’s appointment takes effect from Monday, May 12, 2025, and will last for six months while the university searches for a permanent registrar. She takes over from Mrs Islamiya Foyeke Abdulraheem, whose own six-month tenure as acting registrar ended on the same day.
Mrs Adakayi began her journey at the University of Abuja in 1999 as an Administrative Officer in the Registry. She rose through the ranks and became Deputy Registrar in 2013. Over the years, she has served in many important departments, including Student Affairs, Establishments, the Institute of Education, the College of Health Sciences, and the Centre for Distance Learning. She was on sabbatical leave at the University of Jos before her appointment. She holds a BSc in Geography from the University of Jos, a Professional Diploma in Land Surveying from the Federal School of Surveying in Oyo, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Photogrammetry from RECTAS in Ile-Ife.
Professor Lar congratulated Mrs Adakayi and expressed confidence that her experience and leadership skills would serve the university well. “She will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the university,” Lar stated. The university also thanked Mrs Abdulraheem for her contributions during her time in office, describing the experience of working with her as pleasant. The university community looks forward to a smooth and impactful transition under Mrs Adakayi’s leadership.
