The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State, is set to hold its first matriculation ceremony.
Speaking at a briefing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to announce the matriculation, Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, the vice chancellor, said 850 pioneer students will be matriculated.
Soliciting support, he asked public officials and corporate organisations to help the university grow. He mentioned that running a university on one’s own is costly, and that the government should not be left alone to do so.
Appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he acknowledged him for establishing specialised medical hospitals across the six geopolitical zones.
According to him, universities will increase the number of healthcare workers needed in Nigeria’s healthcare sector and reduce emigration.
