TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables, has called on West African countries to embrace Remote Peering as a key solution to boost digital connectivity across the region.
The company made the call ahead of the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF 2025), which begins this week in Lagos. The annual event brings together internet service providers, data centres, and digital operators to discuss the future of Africa’s internet infrastructure.
According to TelCables Nigeria’s Pre-Sales Engineer, Israel Ogboi, Remote Peering can be instrumental in helping businesses and service providers reduce the high cost of international internet traffic by ensuring that they connect directly to internet exchange points (IXPs). This reduces delays, improves speed, and makes online services cheaper and more reliable. Ogboi explained that TelCables’ network is already giving African companies faster access to streaming, cloud services, e-commerce, and financial platforms — all of which are crucial for economic growth. He added that partnerships at AfPIF 2025 will further strengthen Africa’s digital economy
