The World Bank Group Institute for Economic Development has introduced three new free online courses aimed at strengthening professional skills, advancing best practices, and promoting global knowledge exchange.
The self-paced programmes combine expert presentations, group discussions, and technical sessions to equip participants with practical skills and a deeper understanding of the subject.
The courses include:
1. Manage Successful Field Research: This covers best practices in research design, implementation challenges, ethics, and emerging tools to improve efficiency.
2. Geographic Considerations in Evaluating Women’s Employment Opportunities: Examining how spatial dynamics shape gender inequality in access to jobs and entrepreneurship, supported by case studies.
3. Documenting Development Data Using Metadata Standards: Focuses on international metadata standards, data discoverability, and preparing datasets for future applications, including AI.
According to the World Bank, the courses are free, entirely online, and open to the public.
They target professionals in research, development, policy, and data management, and are designed to support the Sustainable Development Goals through capacity building in gender equity, knowledge management, and data stewardship.
