Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has announced plans to partner with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in education, agriculture and capacity building for civil servants.
ABU disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the governor had pledged while receiving the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala, and other top officials at the Government House in Gusau.
Lawal, an ABU alumnus, praised the university’s global academic reputation, describing support for one’s alma mater as “a duty and service to humanity.” He stated that the state would continue to rely on ABU’s expertise, noting that several university-trained professionals were already serving in his administration.
The governor also said the collaboration would promote mechanised farming and enhance the training of civil servants through intellectual and professional development programmes.
He commended the ABU team for their visit and expressed optimism about stronger future collaboration.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor reassured ABU’s readiness to support Zamfara’s development goals through strategic partnerships in research, agriculture and human capacity development.
