University of Ilorin has inducted 63 new physiotherapists
The University of Ilorin has inducted 63 new physiotherapists to help develop Nigeria’s healthcare workforce. The ceremony took place on December 3, 2025, at the University Multipurpose Hall.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, congratulated the inductees, urging them to uphold high professional standards, embrace continuous learning, and contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery.
Prof. Biodun Alabi Sulyman, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, noted that this cohort is the programme’s second cohort of physiotherapy graduates, underscoring the programme’s rapid growth. He emphasised the importance of clinical expertise, professional ethics, and adaptability in addressing Nigeria’s healthcare challenges.
Registrar of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria, Prof. Rufai Yusuf Ahmad, commended UNILORIN for meeting stringent standards in physiotherapy education and encouraged the institution to expand postgraduate training to sustain the profession nationally.
Guest lecturer Prof. Ayodele Teslim Onigbinde emphasised the importance of lifelong learning and mentorship for professional growth, urging the inductees to stay abreast of global best practices and to mentor future practitioners.
The ceremony concluded with the administration of the professional oath, formally welcoming the 63 graduates into the physiotherapy profession.
