Federal College of Forestry Jos
The Federal College of Forestry, Jos, has received over N5.6 million in student loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support 99 students across two batches in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The first disbursement of N3,892,920 benefited 68 students, while a second tranche of N1,781,790 covered 31 students. The funds, processed on November 8, 2025, were directly applied to institutional fees, ensuring students can continue their studies without financial disruption.
NELFUND Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr noted that the Fund has disbursed N116 billion nationwide since May 2024, supporting 624,000 students through interest-free loans.
Payments include tuition coverage and monthly maintenance allowances, aligned with each institution’s academic calendar.
Dr Sunday Sambo Mailumo, Provost of the college, expressed gratitude to NELFUND for the support, emphasising its role in advancing inclusive education.
The Federal College of Forestry Jos, operating under the Federal Ministry of Environment, trains students in forestry, agriculture, and environmental management, preparing them for careers in sustainable resource management.
NELFUND plans to expand support to 1.2 million students before the end of 2025, including vocational programmes, highlighting its commitment to removing financial barriers and fostering equitable access to tertiary education nationwide. Students can apply via nelf.gov.ng.
