Abia Deputy Governor Pledges Support for Ohafia Students

Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has pledged to provide bursaries and a utility bus for students from Ohafia, following demands presented by the leadership of the National Association of Ohafia Students (NAOS) Worldwide.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the students’ union to the Government House in Umuahia. The Deputy Governor stated that the request would be reviewed for implementation and emphasised the state government’s commitment to supporting educational advancement throughout the state.

Earlier, NAOS President General, Comrade Uma Ukpai Kalu, outlined the Association’s requests and commended the Dr Alex Otti-led administration for its ongoing reforms in the education sector, including the rehabilitation of dilapidated schools and the provision of free basic education. He also pledged the students’ support for government programmes aimed at improving access to quality education.

The visit was also attended by Mr Ezinna Felix Ukwa, the Director of Administration in the Office of the Deputy Governor, who urged the students to maximise the benefits of government support and remain constructive in their engagement.
