A private training hub in Abuja is positioning itself at the heart of Africa’s rapidly changing finance sector, offering practical skills that many say Nigerian universities are failing to deliver.
Cruz Wise Academy, the learning arm of Cruz Wise Consulting, has already trained over 1,000 accountants and finance professionals in hands-on courses that blend accounting, business acumen, and digital expertise. Its founder, Terhemba Tsepav, says the model is designed to “build future-ready finance leaders who can think, adapt and lead,” rather than graduates limited to theory.
With Nigeria facing high youth unemployment and employers often lamenting a shortage of work-ready talent, the academy aims to train 10,000 individuals over the next five years. Its 30 courses cover core accounting and tax practice, cloud-based tools, consulting and leadership.
The academy has also appointed Ademu Shadrach as its new head to strengthen digital learning platforms and expand its reach across Africa.
Observers say the initiative reflects a broader trend in which private academies are stepping in to fill a skills gap in the job market, as the profession increasingly demands knowledge of AI, robotics and advisory services alongside traditional bookkeeping.
