The Adamawa Famtotiral Development Association of Nigeria (AFDAN) has presented an award of appreciation to Professor Ibrahim Umar, Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, in recognition of his significant contributions to the growth and development of the association. The award ceremony was well attended by academicians, politicians, traditional rulers, and members of the general public.
In his welcome address, the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Barr. Bello Hamman Diram, who chaired the occasion, welcomed the guests warmly and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting and strengthening the association’s activities. Established in 1980, AFDAN is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organisation. Initially founded as the Famtotiral Association of Nigeria, it was later restructured and incorporated under its current name.
Over the years, AFDAN has made notable strides through strategic collaborations with relevant organisations, focusing on delivering educational support, healthcare services, environmental sustainability, and social welfare to the public. At the core of the association’s mission is a commitment to supporting those in need within society.
In his closing remarks, Professor Bashir Aliyu, Chairman of the Organising Committee, expressed gratitude to the members and stakeholders for their presence and continued support.
