Air Chief Sunday Aneke met with UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba in Abuja
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is partnering with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to enhance school safety nationwide. Air Chief Sunday Aneke met UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba in Abuja on Monday to discuss the collaboration.
Aneke emphasised that education is “the foundation for a safer Nigeria” and highlighted the NAF’s management of 33 schools—20 primary and 13 secondary, serving both military and civilian communities.
He noted plans to expand teacher development, digital literacy, and school infrastructure while integrating technology-enabled learning and safe-school systems.
The partnership will also involve joint quality assurance, monitoring, and protection of schools, particularly in high-risk areas. Aneke stressed that securing education environments helps nurture responsible future citizens.
Garba expressed UBEC’s readiness to strengthen technical cooperation, stating, “No education system can thrive without safety, and no security framework is complete without education.”
She commended the Air Force for supporting national development beyond its defence mandate and said the partnership will improve resilience, learning outcomes, and security across Nigeria’s basic education sector.
