Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake has restated the institution’s commitment to upholding democratic principles by allowing students to elect their leaders freely.
He made this known while receiving the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) President, Comrade Ladoja Shola, and his team during a courtesy visit to the institution. Represented by the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr Aderemi Akinyemi, Alake noted that sustained peace and stability on campus remain vital for academic progress.
He reaffirmed management’s focus on students’ welfare, revealing that renovation works have been completed on some hostel blocks at the Abuja Hall, with plans underway to upgrade others. He urged students to maintain peace and cooperate with management for mutual growth and development.
Additionally, the Deputy Rector and Chairman of the Security Committee, Dr Michael Akinola, assured the institution of its continuous efforts to safeguard the campus despite the challenges posed by individuals vandalising the perimeter fences.
In his remarks, Comrade Ladoja commended the Tinubu administration for its student loan initiative and urged management to prioritise accommodation, security, and academic stability, while also calling on student leaders to practice responsible unionism through collaboration and effective communication.
